Because of Winn Dixie

Because of Winn Dixie is a 2005 American comedy-drama film adapted from Kate DiCamillo’s first published novel, produced by Walden Media and released by 20th Century Fox. The story is all about a lonely young girl named, Opal, who has moved to a small town with her father, a preacher. Opal soon after adopts an orphaned dog, named Winn Dixie. The dog befriends everyone he encounters and therefore Opal makes new friends in the town as well. The bond between the two brings people of the small Florida town together. and also heals her relationship with her father. Opal

In the story through Opal’s bond with Winn Dixie, the relationship with her father is healed and Opal learns more about the mother who left them seven years ago. She spends all summer collecting stories about her new friends and her mother.

The film was premiered at the USA Film Festival on January 26, 2005, and was released in theaters on February 18, 2005. This award winning novel is now portrayed in an uplifting musical.
