The Rainbow Fish

The Rainbow Fish is a children’s book by a Swiss author and illustrator, Marcus Pfister and translated into English by J. Alison James. The story is all about a beautiful fish in a deep blue ocean filled with shiny, multi-layered scales. The Rainbow fish in a very rude manner, refuses to give up one of his beautiful scare to a small fish.

The fish soon became lonely and went to a wise octopus for advice.

The series is best known for its message about selfishness and the importance of sharing. Going with the advice of the wise octopus, the rainbow fish shares one of his shiny scales to the little blue fish which in turn gives him happiness. The story was turned into an animated television series and a musical.

In the end, the Rainbow Fish was left with only one shiny scale yet he was very happy.
